Definition

Phishing is a deceptive message, page, or interaction designed to steal information or obtain an authorization the victim did not mean to give.

Simple example

A fake wallet-support page asks for a recovery phrase to “verify” an account. A legitimate self-custody support process should not need that secret.

Often confused with

Phishing does not always ask for a password. A malicious signature or token approval can be the target.
