Definition
A public address is a network-specific identifier that can receive assets or identify an account or script condition.
Simple example
An Ethereum address may be shown as 20 bytes written in hexadecimal. An interface can attach a human-readable name, but the underlying destination still needs verification.
Often confused with
An address can be shared; a private key cannot. The same-looking address on another network does not guarantee the destination supports the asset you send.
